Badanekayi means brinjal and ‘bath’ (meaning rice) in Kannada. Cut brinjal is tossed in a pan and then mixed with cooked rice, curry leaves and spices. Bellada means made from jaggery while kaapi just is an Kannadiga way of referring to coffee. Unlike most countries, kaapi in India is consumed with milk (instead of water) and white sugar.
